Large food freeze dryers are plant equipment. A good machine specification can still become an expensive installation if service clearances, utilities, rigging and upstream or downstream flow are decided too late.
Confirm the real utility loads
Request running and peak electrical demand, voltage and frequency, cooling-water conditions, compressed air requirements and defrost demand for the selected configuration.
Utility sizing should include ambient design conditions and simultaneous loads from pre-freezers, pumps, packaging and sanitation.
Reserve installation and maintenance space
Check equipment dimensions, largest shipping module, doorway and roof clearances, crane or forklift path and floor loading. Leave access to compressors, pumps, valves and electrical cabinets.
Plan where replacement components can be removed in the future. A wall placed too close to a service side can turn routine maintenance into building work.
Design material movement
Map raw preparation, pre-freezing, tray or cart loading, dryer transfer, unloading and packaging in one direction. Minimize warm exposure of frozen product and humidity exposure of dry product.
Confirm cart turning radius, rail alignment, operator ergonomics and washdown boundaries.
Prepare commissioning inputs
Before delivery, complete utility points, drains, foundations, network access and safety interfaces. Agree on installation responsibilities, test product, acceptance criteria and operator availability.
