Define why the update is needed
Record the current HMI, PLC and drive versions, the observed problem and the intended change. Confirm whether the update affects only screen presentation or also control logic, setpoint limits, alarms, communications or data storage.
Use a release package tied to the machine serial number and installed options. Software from a similar-looking model can contain different I/O assignments or refrigeration sequences.
Back up recipes and the working program
Export the current PLC/HMI project, operator recipes, calibration values, network settings and alarm configuration before installing anything. Keep one copy off the machine.
Photograph or export critical screens and record a known working cycle. Confirm that the restore method and required engineering software are available before the production window begins.
Update in a safe equipment state
Unload product, complete defrost and place the refrigeration, heating, vacuum and valve systems in the maintenance state specified by the manufacturer. Prevent automatic restart while files are transferred.
Use stable power and the approved communication cable or network path. Do not interrupt a firmware operation unless the documented recovery procedure requires it.
Verify the complete sequence before production
After the update, check user access, recipes, temperatures, pressure display, alarms, valves, pumps, refrigeration stages, heaters, trend recording and remote connections. An I/O simulation is not a substitute for a controlled equipment run where one is required.
Run an empty or approved test cycle, compare it with the pre-update baseline and document acceptance. Release the dryer to food production only after sanitation status and operating checks are complete.
